What the job includes

How to choose
Ask and check
- Ask whether the cleaning includes the outdoor unit or only the indoor one.
- Ask the technician to measure the refrigerant pressure before refilling, and to look for and fix any leak.
- Ask for a written quote that separates labour from the cost of refrigerant and parts, and names any part that needs replacing.
- Ask for a written warranty on the repair and on replaced parts, how long it lasts, and ask to see the old part.
- Check for a valid commercial registration that lists AC maintenance.
Warning signs
- Quotes a price for a freon refill without measuring the pressure or checking for a leak, or keeps refilling without looking for why it runs low.
- Proposes replacing the compressor or control board without a test that shows the fault, or refuses to show you the old part.
- Calls the cleaning a full clean, then only washes the filters without opening the indoor unit or cleaning the outdoor one.
- Asks for full payment before installation or before bringing the spare part.
