Ask and check
- Get a written quote that names the material, its type or gauge and colour, and the dimensions of the shade or fence.
- Ask for written warranties on the frame and on the fabric, and how long each lasts.
- Have the installer measure the site before the final price.
- For car shades, ask whether the material is fire-resistant, and its brand name.
- Check for a valid commercial registration that matches the service, and ask the municipality about the rules before installing.
Warning signs
- The quote does not name the fabric type or steel gauge, only says top quality.
- Gives a price per metre without measuring, then adds items during installation.
- Wants the full amount before the materials arrive.
- Insists the shade needs no municipal check without knowing where it will go.
Permits and rules
For car shades, the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing put draft rules out for public consultation in November 2024, covering permits, dimensions and fire-resistant materials. Check their final status with your municipality or on Balady before installing. For garden shades and fences, ask for a valid commercial registration and a written quote.
